LSG vs RCB: KL Rahul fined 20 per cent match fee, Marcus Stoinis reprimanded for breach of conduct

On Tuesday, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced an 18-run defeat at the hands of Faf du Plessis' Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper, KL Rahul, was fined 20 percent of his match fees for breaching the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday, April 19 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai.
Apart from the Bangalore-born Rahul, retained all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was reprimanded following the Super Giants’ 18-run defeat to Faf du Plessis and Co. As per an IPL release, both Rahul and Stoinis were charged with Level 1 offences and they admitted to the breach.
The Super Giants started IPL 2022 on a brilliant note, but losses in two of their last three matches have pushed them back a wee bit. Rahul and Co. are currently placed fourth in the table with eight points and a net run rate of +0.124.
Against RCB, PBKS failed to chase down 182 after Josh Hazlewood picked up a four-wicket haul. The Super Giants had a realistic chance to overhaul the Challengers’ score, but they fell apart after Stoinis got out in the penultimate over of the run-chase.
Stoinis scored 24 off 15 balls with two fours and one six before Josh Hazlewood rattled his woodwork. After getting out, Stoinis was caught on the stump microphone, using abusive language. He tried to play Hazlewood on the leg-side only to get bowled.
Rahul, on the other hand, started his knock in a handsome manner, scoring 30 runs at a fair rate. But Harshal Patel sent him back in the eighth over to cut short his stay in the middle.
The Super Giants are next scheduled to lock horns with Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, April 24 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
