LSG vs DC: KL Rahul stars again as Lucknow crush DC for third successive win
India Today
Lucknow won their third successive game in a row owing to strong batting performances from KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda and an exceptional 4-fer from Mohsin Khan.
Lucknow Super Giants beat Delhi Capitals on Sunday, 1 May in the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to move to the second position in the points table. KL Rahul's team made it three wins in a row, defeating Rishabh Pant's Delhi by a margin of 6 runs.
Captain KL Rahul anchored LSG to victory, days after criticising the reckless approach of his batters. He scored 77 off 51 balls alongside Deepak Hooda who pitched in with a quick-fire 52 off 34 balls. The duo put together 95 runs between them, setting up a huge total of 195 runs on a sticky Wankhede wicket on Sunday.
Returning to bowl, LSG pacers provided quick breakthroughs for their teams and restricted the Pant-led team to 189/7 in 20 overs in a nervy finish, winning the game by 6 runs.
LSG vs DC Highlights
Delhi Capitals openers have had a splendid season in the current edition of the IPL and DC needed them to be at their best chasing 196 runs. DC were pushing for the top half of the table as this win could have taken them above RCB in the points table.
However, it did not go according to plan today as Prithvi Shaw departed in the second over of the game top edging a Chameera short ball. Soon after Prithvi, David Warner took a long back to the dugout, pulling Mohsin Khan to Ayush Badoni who took a sharp catch inside the circle.
Mitchell Marsh has not had a good time in IPL with two struggling innings and a bout of Covid-19. The star player for Australia in the 2021 T20 World Cup counter-attacked Lucknow with his full repertoire of shots. This shook LSG’ confidence as they looked lost for ideas.
