LSG vs DC: David Warner's struggle in the Indian Premier League continued as he was dismissed after playing a bizarre knock on his to Delhi in IPL 2022.
David Warner failed to make an impact on his return to the Delhi-based IPL franchise as LSG leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi outfoxed the star opener for 4 in the 15th match of IPL 2022 on Thursday. Warner, who was playing his first game for Delhi after 9 years, struggled with the bat during his time in the middle and was finally dismissed for a 10-ball 4 in the 8th over.
Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw played an explosive 61-run knock to provide Delhi with the launching pad after Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to bowl first in Mumbai. Shaw had given DC a fine start before both Shaw and David Warner were dismissed in quick succession. Shaw was removed by K Gowtham while Ravi Bishnoi got the better of Warner.

Warner, who was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad following an average IPL 2021, was roped in by the Capitals at the mega-auction in February for Rs 6.25 crore. Warner was part of the way back in 2012 and besides having a point to prove with the bat, he is keen to be working with former Australia teammate Ricky Ponting, who is DC’s coach.
"Ricky has had a fair bit of success with DC. He was a great leader for Australia and now he has a lot of respect as a coach. I am looking forward to working with him," Warner said.
Rishabh Pant said that DC have made three changes to their playing XI as David Warner, Sarfaraz Khan and Anrich Nortje in place of Tim Seifert, Mandeep Singh and Khaleel Ahmed respectively.
"We’d have bowled first as well, because we haven’t played here before. Three changes for us - Warner comes in for Seifert, Nortje in for Khaleel and Sarfaraz replaces Mandeep. He (Warner) is a big addition, such an experienced player and will add value for us," Rishabh Pant said at the toss.
