Whether you are a bride or not, you cannot miss the show-stopping jewellery Mouni Roy wore at her and Suraj Nambiar's wedding in Goa. While fans are going gaga over Mouni's wedding pictures, our attention has undividedly been captured by the royal emerald neckpiece she wore for her sangeet.
The Naagin actress’ sangeet and mehendi jewels were designed by Roopali Golecha of Golecha Jewels. Speaking exclusively with IndiaToday.in, the designer gave a sneak peek into how she managed to design the beautiful jewellery for the actor.
Mouni Roy got married to Suraj Nambiar in twin wedding ceremonies - a Malayali and a Bengali one - on January 27, surrounded by their nearest and dearest ones. When it comes to bridal jewellery, bigger is always better. And that was certainly the case with Mouni. Apart from wearing traditional jewellery for her wedding, the actor opted for statement-making jewellery for her mehendi and sangeet which took place on 26 and 28 January respectively.
Speaking about it, designer Roopali said, "We know Mouni for six-seven years now and so we were quite aware of her taste. She always wants to look different and out of the league, and that was her thought process when she came to me. She said 'Roopali tu kuch aisa kar, ke main hatke lagoon (Rupali, please do something so that I look unique)'. If you have noticed, she loves big maang tikkas. They enhance her forehead. She was clear she wanted big maang tikkas and big chandbalis. So, for her mehendi function, we decided to only give her big chandbalis and a big maang tikka and nothing else."
"For her sangeet, Mouni again wanted something different. She didn't want a choker or any regular piece. Again she wanted something big, so we created an elaborate piece. The necklace she wore is a double-sided piece. The front side is completely made of polki and emeralds, and the other side has emeralds, rubies, and diamonds," Rupali said.
"It is very delicate and features a different kind of work. It also has peacocks designed on the necklace. The muddle Polki was 36Ct and besides that, there are small peacocks that had small pieces of emeralds in their mouths. Also, she wanted her earrings to match with the necklace. So, we made a pair of all-emerald earrings for that. There were 100 emeralds in the earrings, (50Ct each). The maang tikka was made of emerald and uncut diamond, giving it a classic bridal touch,” she said while speaking about bride Mouni Roy's sangeet jewellery.
The designer also revealed that it took them 8 to 9 months to create the jewellery.Post her wedding, Mouni and Suraj were spotted hand-in-hand at the Mumbai airport looking absolutely beautiful. Speaking about the airport look, the designer said, "She kept it simple, the jewellery she wore were small chandbalis which went well with her red attire."
