Long stretch of Highway 1 closes in the N.W.T.

A long stretch of Highway 1 in the Northwest Territories was closed as of late Monday afternoon, according to an update from the Department of Infrastructure.
According to the department, the highway is closed between kilometre 188 and kilometre 457, meaning almost the whole stretch of Highway 1 west of the Highway 3 intersection to Fort Simpson is closed.
The department said road closures can change at any time.

The leader of Canada's Green Party had some strong words for Nova Scotia's Progressive Conservatives while joining her provincial counterpart on the campaign trail. Elizabeth May was in Halifax Saturday to support the Nova Scotia Green Party in the final days of the provincial election campaign. She criticized PC Leader Tim Houston for calling a snap election this fall after the Tories passed legislation in 2021 that gave Nova Scotia fixed election dates every four years.
