A London man has been charged in the death of a child and police are looking for him.
Guiseppe Joseph Stillitano, 47, faces manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death charges.
Police say they were called to a home on Nelson Street at about 1 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 7, because of an unresponsive child in need of medical attention. They tried to revive the child, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to an obituary at the time of the death, the girl was almost five years old. She loved to sing, dance, and touched the hearts of those who knew her. "She absolutely loved Vanilla Chills Froot Loops and Cheezies," the obituary stated.
The London police major crime section and the office of the coroner conducted a 17-month investigation and charged Stillitano this week. He hasn't been located by police.
"The accused and the deceased were known to each other, and this was not a random incident," police said in a statement. In the obituary, Stillitano is listed as one of the child's parents.
Anyone with information, or the whereabouts of the accused, is being asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
