London police deem death at Gibbons Park a homicide

London police are now calling the death of a man found in Gibbons Park on Sunday a homicide.
The alleged victim has been identified as Daniel Joseph Fawcett, 52, of London.
Emergency crews were called to the end of Grosvenor Street at the Gibbons Park entrance after 6:45 a.m., after receiving a 911 call in relation to the man who was "unresponsive" at the time, police said.
Both police and paramedics attended the scene and performed live-saving measures, but the man died a short time later. The police's Forensic Investigation and the Search and Rescue Units were also present on scene.
"Members of the London Police Service Major Crime Section continue to investigate the suspicious death of an adult male. Police can now confirm that this death has been deemed a homicide," police said in their latest update.
A resident who lives across from the park told CBC News that she was awakened to police and ambulance sirens racing down Grosvenor Street and blocking off the entrance at around 7:00 a.m.
Investigators are hoping to speak with anyone who may have been in the 0-100 block of Grosvenor Street between 2 and 7 a.m., on Sunday, or who may have information that could help with the investigation.
Anyone with information is being asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be sent in online anonymously to London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
