The potential punishment of Bubba Christopher Pollock is being spoken to in Windsor court after he pleaded guilty to criminal harassment for his actions in a Facebook comment battle over 2SLGBTQ+ issues.
Residing in London, Pollock is a conservative activist who has protested against drag events. In June 2023, Pollock clashed on Facebook with Brittany Leroux of Windsor, who is an 2SLGBTQ+ advocate.
In a Facebook comment thread, Pollock posted a photo of himself in a palliative care room at Hotel-Dieu Grace Healthcare. In the background, unconscious in a care bed, was Leroux's terminally ill father.
Pollock attended court on Thursday morning with more than a dozen supporters.
Also in attendance was Leroux and several of her supporters, some wearing and carrying items expressing 2SLGBTQ+ advocacy.
Justice Mark Hornblower is expected to hear sentencing submissions from assistant Crown attorney Jennifer Holmes and Pollock's legal counsel, Ron Ellis.
Two Windsor police officers in the tactical gear of the Emergency Services Unit are assigned to the courtroom as a precautionary measure.
