YSRCP district president highlights party's contributions to North Andhra development, challenges TDP's claims, and emphasizes government achievements.
YSRCP district president Gudivada Amarnath has said that the projects in North Andhra, for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch during his visit to Visakhapatnam on January 8, were all conceived during the YSRCP government. It shows the YSRCP government’s contribution to North Andhra region.
Taking strong exception to statement of Minister forr IT Nara Lokesh that the previous YSRCP government had done nothing for development of North Andhra region, Mr. Amarnath said instead of asking what former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had done for the region, Mr. Lokesh should ask as to what his father (Mr. Chandrababu Naidu) had done for the region during his three previous stints as Chief Minister.
In contrast, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy had sanctioned the ₹700 crore water project and set up a kidney research centre at Uddanam in Srikakulam district for the benefit of chronic kidney disease patients. The construction of a port and medical and engineering colleges was taken up in Vizianagaram district. The land acquisition, which could not progress during the previous TDP regime, was completed after obtaining all permissions, and the construction of the Bhogapuram Airport work was started.
IT major Infosys was brought to the city by the YSRCP government and WNS has recruited 3,000 employees.
Mr. Amarnath, who has served as Minister for IT in the YSRCP government, said that it was former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who laid the seeds for development of IT in Visakhapatnam city. On the allegations of the TDP that ₹500 crore was spent on the building at Rushikonda, he said it was a ‘government building’ and it was for the new government to take a call, whether to use as residence for the Prime Minister or President of India during their visits or for some other public purpose.
While welcoming Mr. Lokesh’s statement that the TDP would not allow privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), Mr. Amarnath said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should prevail upon the Prime Minister to make a statement on withdrawal of strategic sale of VSP at his public meeting in Visakhapatnam.
The YSRCP leader said that the agreement pertaining to the NTPC Green Hydrogen Hub was done during the YSRCP government. Showing a copy of the order issued during the YSRCP government, he reiterated that the 52 acres of land for construction of railway zone headquarters was handed over to the railways on January 2, 2024.
