'Like A Movie': Watch Sinkhole Turn Soccer Pitch Into Terrifying Field Of Screams

The ground literally opened up beneath Gordon Moore City Park in Alton, Illinois.
A soccer field in Alton, Illinois, partially disappeared on Wednesday morning when it was gobbled up by a gigantic 100-foot-wide sinkhole.
A surveillance camera captured the dramatic collapse of the pitch at Gordon Moore City Park.
Incredibly, no one was on the field at the time and no injuries were reported.
The pitch is above a working limestone mine. Mine operator New Frontier Materials said “surface subsidence” had led to the sinkhole.
Investigations into the incident continue, the field remains closed and operations at the mine “have been halted,” said Alton Mayor David Goins.
