Liger box office collection Day 6: Vijay Deverakonda's film is a bigger disaster than Acharya
India Today
Vijay Deverakonda's Liger had a disastrous first week at the box office. The film is an even bigger disaster than Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan's Acharya.
Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday went all out to promote Liger all around the country. However, that didn't seem to be enough to pull the audience to the theatres. The recently released film has crashed miserably at the box office. According to trade reports, Liger is an even bigger disaster than Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan’s film Acharya, which opened with much fanfare on April 29.
Liger, which was released in theatres on August 25, had a disastrous first weekend. The film has been receiving negative reviews from the audience and critics. Trade reports suggest that Liger saw a 50 per cent drop on Monday, August 29, by earning Rs 2.50 crore (approx). It looks like the collection may not pick up anytime soon. On Day 6, August 30, Liger performed even worse than Acharya. Andhra Box Office tweeted, "#Liger is a Bigger Disaster than #Acharya (32.5%) in terms of ROI for the Buyers. It is unlikely to recover even 30%. There isn’t a single Theatre where it managed to collect Rent on Monday. Business as good as closed (sic)."

Liger is an action drama written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film has been criticised for its lousy screenplay and over-the-top moments. It features Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy and Ali in lead roles. Boxing legend Mike Tyson played a cameo and the audience felt that it was unintentionally funny. Liger is jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur and Karan Johar.
Written and directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya is a socio-political action drama. The film is jointly produced by Matinee Entertainment and Konidela Production Company. The production and the release of Acharya were delayed multiple times due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, the Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer hit the theatres on April 29. The soundtrack of Acharya is created by Mani Sharma and the lyrics are by Ramajogayya Sastry, Ananta Sriram and Bhaskarabhatla. Bankrolled by Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainment, the film was made on a budget of Rs 140 crore.
