Let down by science, UP villagers turn to faith to save themselves from Covid-19 wave

Villagers of Gaunria in Maharajganj district of eastern Uttar Pradesh have begun a nine-day ritual in which they offer prayers for their safety from coronavirus.

After wreaking havoc in cities, the Covid-19 crisis has reached the rural areas in India. Rural India has witnessed a mega spike in the last few weeks, exposing the healthcare system in the villages and the plight of those residing there.
