
Lessons I've learned as a Black traveler

Writer Nancy Lova says for her exploring the planet is an escape that gives her a sense of stability. But her experiences of being a Black traveler have also taught her some things about the world.
(CNN) — Traveling has given me a stable sense of identity. It's a form of escape where I feel most confident, at peace and like myself. I started traveling solo in my early twenties and, of course, I had some expectations of what I might gain and learn. I imagined learning about new cultures and traditions, the history of different cities, its people and architecture. I hoped to gain a better understanding of religions other than my own and perhaps pick up some new skills along the way.
Andrew Cuomo and Zohran Mamdani bitterly clashed over age and experience Thursday in the final debate before New York City’s Democratic mayoral primary, as Cuomo warned that electing the progressive state assemblyman is unprepared for the job and Mamdani hammered the former governor over scandals during his time in Albany.

On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security posted a striking graphic on its official X account. Uncle Sam, a symbol of American patriotism, is depicted nailing a poster to a wall that reads, “Help your country… and yourself.” Written underneath the poster is the sentence, “REPORT ALL FOREIGN INVADERS,” and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement hot line.
