Lata Mangeshkar had tested Covid positive on January 8 and was immediately taken to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for treatment. Fans have been worried about her health ever since. However, as per the latest update, the legendary singer is only heading towards betterment. IndiaToday.in has exclusively learnt from Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope that Lata Mangeshkar is steadily opening her eyes and doing much better now.
Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to a Mumbai hospital after testing Covid positive on January 8. Fans have been waiting with bated breath for every health update on the Nightingale of India. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope exclusively shared Lata Mangeshkar’s health update with IndiaToday.in. He said, “I spoke to the doctor who is treating Lata Mangeshkar. She is recovering. She was on ventilator but now after 15 days, she is no more on ventilator. Only oxygen is being given to her. She is opening up her eyes, speaking to doctor. She has weakness and infection is also there. But she is much better now and responding to treatment.”
On January 27, an update from Lata Mangeshkar’s Instagram profile about her health said, “Lata didi continues to be in the ICU at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai under treatment. She has been given a TRIAL of extubation (off the invasive Ventilator) this morning. Presently, she is showing signs of improvement but will remain under observation of the team of doctors headed by Dr Pratit Samdani. We thank each one of you for your prayers and good wishes (sic)."
