India Today
The new Land Rover Defender 130 gets a 2+3+3 seating layout and is 340mm longer than the Defender 110 while the wheelbase remains the same.
Land Rover has introduced a longer variant of the Defender in the form of the Land Rover Defender 130. The increased length has enabled an eight-seat layout as well as an increase in cargo space compared to the Defender 110.
The Land Rover Defender 130 is 5,358mm long which is an increment of 340mm over the Defender 110's length which measures 5,018mm. The wheelbase, at 3,022mm, is the same as the 110's. Visually, there are no differences between the 130 and 110, aside, of course, from the increased length when viewed from the side.
Thanks to the additional length, the Land Rover Defender 130 offers seating for up to 8 passengers with a 2+3+3 layout. Plus, with all rows up there is space for 389 litres of cargo. With the second and third rows folded down, the Defender 130 can take in a massive 2,291 litres of cargo. While All Defender 130 models come with a panoramic sunroof as standard, there is a second sunroof above the third row as well. The Defender 130 gets an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen and standard air suspension. Land Rover will offer the Defender 130 in HSE and X specifications.
The increased length has obviously affected the departure angle which stands at 28.5-deg compared to the 110's 37.7-deg. Ground clearance stands at 290mm and it boasts 900mm of water wading capability. For now, there are two engine options to choose from. There's the P400 mild-hybrid Ingenium six-cylinder petrol, delivering power of 400bhp and a torque of 550Nm, and the D300 Ingenium six-cylinder diesel, delivering power of 300bhp and a torque of 650 Nm. An 8-speed ZF sourced torque converter is standard.
There's no word on the launch of the Land Rover Defender 130 in India yet. However, we expect the SUV to go on sale in the country in the coming months. Currently, the Land Rover Defender is available in the 90 and 110 variants, priced from Rs 80.72 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 82.25 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
