A tiger has killed a 30-year-old man in Lakhimpur Kheri. This is the third such incident to be reported in the area since June 18 and the fifth since May 21.
The victim has been identified as Nagendra Singh and was mauled to death by the tiger late on Sunday night.
The accused tiger in this incident is reportedly the same tigress that had killed a local priest Mohan Das (52) on June 18 and a 13-year-old boy Suraj Singh on June 23.
The report also stated that Deputy director, Dudhwa buffer zone Sundaresh has confirmed the killing of the man in the tiger’s attack on Sunday night.
However, he added that the pugmarks were being collected to identify and ascertain if the tiger in the latest incident is the same as the one responsible for the previous two killings.
Forest Department teams have been deployed in Beli village to keep the tiger away.
In the earlier incident, a 13-year-old boy had gone to graze cattle close to the River Ghaghra when the tiger attacked and killed him. On hearing his cries for help, locals rushed to the spot and recovered the body.
