Komarama Bheema Gonda Kuruba Sangha urges government to develop neglected memorial for freedom fighter Kolluru Mallappa in Yadgir.
Komarama Bheema Gonda Kuruba Sangha has urged the State government to develop the memorial built for late freedom fighter Kolluru Mallappa in Yadgir district.
Addressing a press conference, in-charge of the Kalaburagi Division of the Sangha Basavaraj Madriki said that Kolluru Mallappa was one of the prominent freedom fighters from the Kalyan Karnataka region.
His social service remains unparalleled. However, the memorial of the great patriot has remained neglected for several years owing to the lack of interest of the successive governments.
Hence, the sangha wants the government to develop the memorial without further delay, he added.
Mr. Madriki demanded that the Yadgir Railway Station be named after Kolluru Mallappa as a mark of respect to the leader and also include his lifestory in school textbooks.
He also urged the district administration to make all arrangements required and provide basic infrastructure for devotees attending the annual fair of the Mailaralingeshwar Temple in Mailapur village of the district.
Channappa Eligar, Vasudeva, Malappa, Gudadappa, Revanasiddappa and others were present.
