In a recent media interaction, Kriti Sanon said that it took time for people to recognise her because she doesn't come from a filmy background. The actress also talked about shooting for three films one after the other.
Kriti Sanon will turn director in reel life with Bachchhan Paandey. Also starring Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez and Arshad Warsi, the film will release on March 18. Ahead of that, the actress sat down for a media interaction in Delhi where she talked about shooting for Bachchhan Paandey, Bhediya and Adipurush one after the other. Kriti revealed that this continuous transition of characters scared her. The actress also spoke about coming from a non-filmy background and how it took people time to recognise her.
Kriti Sanon talked about her struggles in the industry to make people recognise her work. She said, “When you don’t come from a film background, it takes you a few films to make people know who you are. You don’t come with a surname that they know. It takes some time for people to recognise you and put a name to your face. But it feels so nice to look back at my journey now. I remember there were times when I felt that I wanted certain kinds of opportunities but didn’t have it. In that case, you end up choosing the best from what you have. Those opportunities, fortunately, kept growing. I am not someone who has done theatres or even thought of becoming an actor so everything I learnt has been from the job. Now, I don’t want to stop learning. I feel nice now when people come to me asking what kind of film do you want to do because it was not an option earlier. People take me seriously now.”
Kriti Sanon shot for Bachchhan Paandey, Bhediya and Adipurush without breaks. She said that it’s not difficult to transition from one character to another if the dialect isn’t the focus. “All it takes is a few readings with the director and I also read my script again and again,” she said, adding, “Last year, I often jumped from one film to the other, so much so that it scared me. After Bachchhan Paandey, I shot for Bhediya for three days and then I moved to Adipurush which was a very different character. It scared me. It takes at least three days to understand what you are doing.”
Bachchhan Paandey is the remake of the 2014 Tamil film Veeram. The film stars Akshay Kumar in the role of a gangster, while Kriti Sanon plays an aspiring director.
