Kolkata Police books Union minister Subhas Sarkar, 3 others over bribery charges

The police has filed an FIR against the Union Minister of State for Education and three other BJP leaders over bribery charges.
The Kalyani Police on Thursday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Union Minister Subhas Sarkar, BJP MP from Ranaghat Jagannath Sarkar, along with two other BJP leaders over bribery charges in Kolkata’s Nadia district.
The FIR is based on a complaint filed by Sariful Islam on May 20.
The BJP leaders, including the Union Minister of State for Education Subhas Sarkar have been accused in the FIR of taking bribes for the allocation of jobs at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Kalyani in Nadia.
The FIR has been filed under Section 420 (Cheating), 406 (Criminal Breach of Trust), 120 B (Criminal Conspiracy), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
