Kodanad heist, murder case transferred to Crime Branch-CID

The Kondanad heist and murder case was transferred to the Crime Branch-CID on Friday. The case relates to the theft and murder in the Kondanadu estate of former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa.
The Kodanad heist and murder case, which was earlier investigated by a special team, has been transferred to the Crime Branch - CID (Crime Investigation Department) to speed up the investigation.
The case is related to a heist at former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s Kodanad estate in April 2017. A gang of 11 people reportedly broke into the former CM’s estate and murdered one of the security guards, Om Bahadur.
One of the accused in the case, Manoj, had approached the Madras High court with a demand to speed up the investigation.

According to sources, DGP Sylendra Babu ordered the transfer of the case to CB-CID on Friday.
The SIT team has investigated over 202 people, including VK Sasikala, in the case. Sasikala was the close aide of late J Jayalalithaa.
In its election manifesto, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had promised that they would bring out the truth behind the mysterious heist and murder in the Kodanad estate.
