KKR vs MI: I was just sitting in the dug-out and watching the ball fly - Shreyas Iyer on Pat Cummins blitz
India Today
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer heaped rich praise on Pat Cummins for his “extraordinary” performance and said he couldn’t believe the way he batted after KKR defeated Mumbai Indians by five wickets at MCA stadium, Pune on Wednesday.
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Shreyas Iyer was in awe of Pat Cummins' exceptional power-hitting after his team gunned down the 162-run target in just 16 overs to hand Mumbai Indians a 5-wicket defeat in Pune on Wednesday.
Iyer said that he couldn't believe the way Cummins was hitting every ball out of the park against Mumbai, as the Australian star didn't have a very good session with the bat in the nets.
Cummins scored a half-century in just 14 balls and registered the joint-fastest fifty in IPL history. Apart from Cummins, Venkatesh Iyer also played an anchored inning of 50 runs off 41 balls, to provide KKR with a victory in just 16 overs.
Andre Russell’s dismissal invited Pat Cummins to the crease, who then changed the entire face of the match. He thrashed the MI bowlers at every corner of the ground and played a knock of 56 runs off 15 balls to bring KKR home with a five-wicket victory in just 16 overs.

It was unbelievable stuff from Cummins as KKR, needing 35 from 30 balls, got them all in just six deliveries with the Australian Test captain hitting six sixes and four boundaries in his 15-ball 56, leaving his skipper Shreyas Iyer as well as rival captain Rohit Sharma stunned.
“Extraordinary! I couldn’t believe the way he (Cummins) was hitting the ball. Because yesterday in the nets, he was getting bowled now and then. I was batting in the nets beside him then. During the timeout, the plan was for Venky to drop anchor and tell Pat to just swing at everything because that’s what he was doing before too," Shreyas Iyer said in the post-match presentation.
