KK Shailaja showed great character, says Veena George, Kerala’s new health minister

Kerala's new health minister Veena George has big shoes to fill in replacing KK Shailaja. She says any portfolio is challenging and the priority now is to fight Covid-19.

Journalist-turned-politician Veena George, who has replaced KK Shailaja as the Health Minister of Kerala in the second Pinarayi Vijayan cabinet, has big shoes to fill. She will helm the health ministry at a time when the state is seeing an alarming surge in Covid-19 cases. But Veena George, who represents Aranmula constituency in Kerala assembly, said that every portfolio is challenging and her priority will be fighting the pandemic. Speaking to India Today TV after assuming charge as the state health minister, Veena George said, "I am happy about the new opportunity that the party has given me. This is as challenging as any other portfolio. I will certainly give my 100 per cent. As of now, our priority is fighting the pandemic."
