A Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata is all set to design this year’s theme on Krishnakumar Kunnath, better known by his stage name KK and Nazrul Mancha. The pandal of Kabirajbagan Sharodatsab in North Kolkata will give tribute to legendary singer KK.
According to the organizers, the pandal will be shaped in the form of Nazrul Mancha, the auditorium where KK did his last performance in Kolkata on May 31. A 5.5-ft statue of KK will be sculpted for the pandal.
Along with that, all the songs played by the iconic singer will be played on a big LED screen. The last stage show of KK on Nazrul Mancha will also be shown in the video.
Amal Chakraborty, who came up with the theme of Kabirajbagan club, told indiatoday.in, “The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the puja committee. We will pay our homage to the legendary singer KK, who took his last breath in this city”.
"I was invited to the May 31 concert. But could not make it. I heard KK sang a great song. Then he had such an outcome. That is why we have chosen KK as the theme of our puja pandal to pay homage to such a great artist,” Chakraborty added.
He also said that the puja committee would also invite the family of singer KK to visit Kabirajbagan puja during the biggest festival. Artist Monty Pal will be making the idol of KK.
The 53-year-old singer collapsed at the hotel where he was staying after the concert in Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha.
