Late music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri and legendary singer Kishore Kumar have delivered many hit songs. The late singer was Bappi Da's Mama (maternal uncle).
Legendary singer and musician Bappi Lahiri passed away on February 15. He was 69 years old. His cremation will be held tomorrow, February 17, at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Mumbai. Lahiri's family is waiting for his son, Bappa, to arrive from the US. The music composer has delivered many hit numbers in his lifetime and many of them were crooned by Kishore Kumar. His popular numbers like Chirodini Tumi Ke Amaar and Chalte Chalte, were all sung by Kishore Kumar. The duo didn't just have a professional relationship but were also related to each other.
Bappi Lahiri, who is called the pioneer of disco beats, had collaborated with Kishore Kumar on many songs. However, not many know that the legendary singer was Bappi Da's maternal uncle and he called him Mamaji. The duo has given numerous hits both in Hindi and Bengali languages.
Some of the popular songs of the duo are Chalte Chalte, Chirodini Tumi Je Aamar, Inteha Ho Gayi, Taaki O Taaki and Pag Ghungroo Baandh.
Bappi Lahiri made his acting debut in Kishore Kumar's film, Badhti Ka Naam Dhadhi. Kishore Kumar's last song, Guru Guru, for the film Waqt Ki Aawaz was also composed by Bappi Da.
