Killer disguised as Buddhist monk arrested after 30 years from UP’s Farrukhabad

A murder accused who was involved in the killing of six people in 1991 was arrested in UP’s Farrukhabad on Monday. He had been absconding for the last 30 years and had been living in Delhi and UP disguised as a Buddhist monk.
A murder accused, who had been absconding and hiding for 30 years disguised as a Buddhist monk, was arrested by police in Uttar Pradesh’s Farrukhabad on Monday, September 26.
The fugitive, Ram Sevak, was accused of mass murder in 1991. He had killed six people of a family in Agra’s Lakhanpur area over a love affair. Three accused were sent to jail but were later granted bail.
After that, the three accused were sentenced to death by the local court, but two of them, Kishori Lal and Ram Sevak, escaped. He had been absconding for the last thirty years and was arrested near the Farrukhabad bus stand on Monday night.
Upon questioning him, police discovered that he had gone to Delhi where he took initiation as a Buddhist and had started living as a Buddhist monk. The accused had also changed his name and identity.
Police officer Ashoka Meena said, “The accused of a mass murder that took place in 1991 has been arrested. He was absconding and was living in a monastery after changing his identity and name.”
