Washington – House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy warned a group of private companies that Republicans will "not forget" if they comply with a request to preserve documents from the House select committee investigating the January 6 assault on the U.S. Capitol.
McCarthy said in a statement posted to Twitter on Tuesday that letters from the January 6 panel sent to 35 social media, telecommunications and email companies this week would "put every American with a phone or computer in the crosshairs of a surveillance state run by Democrat politicians." "If these companies comply with the Democrat order to turn over private information, they are in violation of federal law and subject to losing their ability to operate in the United States," he said. "If companies still choose to violate federal law, a Republican majority will not forget and will stand with Americans to hold them fully accountable under the law."Two Native Hawaiian brothers who were convicted in the 1991 killing of a woman visiting Hawaii allege in a federal lawsuit that local police framed them "under immense pressure to solve the high-profile murder" then botched an investigation last year that would have revealed the real killer using advancements in DNA technology.

But experts warn that his administration's crackdown on immigration could both drive up inflation as well as hurt a range of businesses by shrinking the nation's workforce.
Meta is denying claims circulating on social media that it forced Facebook and Instagram users to follow President Trump's official accounts, saying the changes some users noticed were standard practices tied to the transition of the POTUS account from the previous administration to the incoming one.
