Kevin De Bruyne, Thomas Meunier and Yannick Carrasco have been allowed to skip the last of June’s four Nations League A Group Four games.
Belgium have given permission to Kevin De Bruyne and two other players to go off early on holiday after their team’s 1-1 draw against Wales on Saturday, June 11. Coach Roberto Martinez put forth the development.
De Bruyne, Thomas Meunier and Yannick Carrasco have been allowed to skip the last of June’s four Nations League A Group Four games, which is set to take place against Poland in Warsaw on Tuesday, June 14.
"De Bruyne has given enough, so has Carrasco," Martinez was quoted as saying. "Meunier played two games in quick succession after not playing for three months. We can't force anyone."
However, De Bruyne, who was a tad apprehensive about playing in the Nations League after plying his trade with Manchester City, mentioned he would have been happy to continue.
"I have played three matches for almost 90 minutes. Physically I am okay and I would have liked to play the last game against Poland, but it is the decision of the coach,” he told the media.
De Bruyne leaves after Belgium let Wales off the hook in Cardiff and let go the chance of securing a victory.
"It is a pity about the late equaliser,” De Bruyne added. "We were in command at the beginning of the second half, but then we forgot to play football. But with all the changes in the team, it was not the worst performance."
