Kerala: Wife donates part of her liver to husband on Valentine's day

Pravija, a 39-year-old Kerala native donated a part of her liver to her husband Subeesh on Valentine's day. Subeesh has been under treatment for a liver ailment for the past few years.
On Valentine's day, Pravija donated her liver to her husband Subeesh, giving him a new lease of life. The liver transplantation was successfully done at Medical College Hospital in Kerala's Kottayam. The surgery lasted for 17 hours.
According to reports, this is the second successful liver transplant surgery in the history of government hospitals in Kerala and first ever in Kottayam MCH.
Subeesh and Pravija are natives of Kunnamkulam. The surgery began at 6 am on Monday and lasted for 17 hours. The first stage was completed by 5 pm. About 40 per cent of the left side of Pravija's liver was first removed.
The process of stitching part of Pravija's liver on Subeesh's body began at 5.30 pm. It lasted for another five hours.
According to MCH Superintendent Dr TK Jayakumar, the surgery was completed by 10.30 pm and Subeesh was shifted to the ventilator after one hour of observation. The next 48 hours are crucial for him.
Subeesh has been under treatment for a liver ailment for the past few years.
