A 22-year-old man who died on Saturday in Thrissur had tested positive for monkeypox in the UAE. His family allegedly handed over the reports to the hospital after his demise.
The 22-year-old man from Thrissur whose cause of death was suspected to be monkeypox had tested positive for the virus in UAE, says health minister Veena George.
Reportedly, the man had tested positive for monkeypox a day before he reached India on July 21.
His family allegedly handed over the reports to the hospital after his demise.
The government said that while the results of the test done in the UAE confirmed the presence of monkeypox, a probe would be conducted to determine the final cause of the death.
He was admitted to the hospital on July 27 and died on July 30.
The health minister revealed that his sample would be tested at the Virology Institute of Alappuzha again. A detailed enquiry will be conducted on why he sought treatment late, added the health minister.
