Torrential rain continued to batter southern states on September 5. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall until September 9 across several states.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh on September 8 and 9. Meanwhile, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh will witness 'very heavy rainfall' on September 6, 7 and 9.
Amid incessant rains in Bengaluru, the lives of civilians, cattle and stray animals came to a standstill. In visuals from the city, residents of the Varthur suburb resorted to riding boats and other carriers to commute through heavily waterlogged areas.

Torrential rains in the city not only obstructed the usual routes but long and heavy traffic was witnessed in several areas.
