The Kerala High Court has refused to stay the investigation against actor Dileep by the Crime Branch. Dileep was accused of conspiring to kill officials investigating the 2017 Kerala actor assault case, in which Dileep is accused.
The Kerala High Court on Thursday, March 17, refused to stay the investigation against actor Dileep for conspiring to harm and kill officials who were investigating the 2017 actor assault case in which Dileep was one of the accused.
In his plea to stay the investigation, actor Dileep alleged that the Crime Branch was making false allegations against him. He maintained that they were targeting him with vested interests.
The Crime Branch alleged that Dileep and his brother-in-law, Suraj, had destroyed evidence in their phones before they were submitted to the court. In his plea to stay the investigation, Dileep had claimed that the crime branch had fabricated this evidence.
He further said that extraction, restoration or deletion of data from a phone by its user was not illegal by any means. He said the deletion of some messages is a regular process many people do.

However, the court held that there needed to be a detailed hearing of the case, which has grievous allegations levelled against the actor, and that there was no need to stay the investigation.
On January 9, the Crime Branch registered a case against Dileep based on a complaint filed by an officer investigating the 2017 actor assault case. Based on a supposed audio clip of Dileep, which was telecast by a TV channel, the actor was allegedly heard conspiring to harm the official.
