The Kerala High Court expressed discontent over the plea challenging the use of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's picture on the Covid vaccination certificates. The court asked the complainant why they were ashamed of using our Prime Minister's picture on the certificate.Justice PV Kunhikrishnan observed that he is 'our' Prime Minister, not the Prime Minister of any other country."He came to power through our mandate. You cannot challenge this merely because of political differences. 100 crore people do not have an issue with it this, so why would you? Everyone has different political opinions, but he is still our Prime Minister. You are wasting judicial time," said the court. The court further questioned the complainant as to why he has no issue against institutions and universities named after political leaders since he himself was working at Jawaharlal Nehru Leadership Institute of New Delhi. When the petitioner's advocate said that other countries do not follow this, the court pointed out that unlike other countries we are proud of our PM.The petitioners advocate argued that the vaccination certificate is a private space. He further argued that the petitioner has paid for the vaccine and therefore the state has no right to claim credit by inserting a photograph. They also maintained that the use of photo can influence the minds of voters. They further argued that using the image served no public purpose or utility.
