Kerala HC dismisses Dileep's plea to stop probe in 2007 actor assault case

The Kerala HC has dismissed a plea filed by actor Dileep to stop further investigations into the 2007 actor sexual assault case. Justice Edappagath dismissed the plea and said that the probe should be completed by April 15.
The Kerala High Court, on Tuesday, March 8, dismissed a plea by actor Dileep to stop further investigations into the 2007 actor sexual assault case. The order was issued by Justice Kauser Edappagath, who said that investigating agencies have to complete the further probe before April 15.
The incident that took place in 2017 is being investigated again by the crime branch. Actor Dileep is the eighth accused in the case and is allegedly the one who hatched the conspiracy to attack his colleague.
The actor was represented by advocate Raman Pillai. The accused claimed that further investigations were only a sham to delay the trial of the 2007 actor assault case.

The police, however, maintained that there was no legal obstacle in carrying out further investigations. The surviving actor (victim) in the case was also allowed to plead her case, and she had taken the same stand as the prosecution in the matter of further investigation.
There are ten accused in the case, which has grabbed headlines because of the cruelty and cunning behind it. The actor had allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted the survivor in her car back in 2007.
