Despite the ongoing rift between the Kerala government and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, the state has given its approval for the purchase of a new car for the Governor.
Despite the ongoing rift between the Kerala government and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, the state has now given administrative sanction for the purchase of a new car for the Governor.
An order regarding the same was issued by the General Administration Department on Wednesday.
The car will cost the government around Rs 85 lakhs. It will be a Benz LWB variant in obsidian black colour. The principal secretary to the Governor had sent a report to the state government confirming that the present vehicle is more than 10 years old and has covered a lakh kilometres.

It now requires repair work, according to the report. Raj Bhavan has told the government that the vehicle is now eligible to be replaced. They also presented an invoice for the purchase of the new car.
Recently, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan lashed out at the Left government over pension benefits, saying the practice of giving pension benefits to the personal staff of ministers just after completing two years a few months ago was a 'gross violation and abuse of authority' and 'misuse and abuse of money of people of Kerala'.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, during his policy address in the Kerala Assembly, had said it was his constitutional duty to advise the government and it was up to them how they take it.
