Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy highlighted the state's achievement of curtailing the Covid mortality rate at the WEF annual meeting in Davos.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday addressed a public session in Davos and highlighted his government's robust health system in tackling the Covid pandemic.
"With the limitations we had, we did what every country or state could do. Tracing, testing, and treatment along with 44 rounds of house-to-house surveys, with the help of over 42K Asha workers, and village volunteers who worked during the pandemic helped the state fight the crisis efficiently. We were also able to curtail the mortality rate of 0.63% when the national average was between 1 to 1.2%," the CM said.
In a session titled 'Future-proofing Health Systems' on day two of the World Economic Forum (WEF) meet, CM Reddy highlighted how policies, practices and partnerships can be adapted and scaled in health systems globally to build resilience and ensure uninterrupted care, even in times of shocks and crisis.
“Availability, accessibility, and affordability - all three must move in line in the health sector,” the CM added.
CM Reddy also spoke on preventive care. We have village clinics for every 2,000 people, two primary health centers for every 30,000 people. These two PHCs have four doctors who would work in designated villages and act as family doctors for the people, he said.
According to him, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to mobilise two billion dollars in three-years to further improve health facilities in the state.
In order to improve the doctor-patient ratio, the government is establishing more teaching hospital-medical colleges, Reddy said.
