Kate Middleton paid a subtle tribute to Queen Elizabeth II as she wore her layered pearl necklace for a lunch reception at Buckingham Palace.
Princess of Wales Kate Middleton paid yet another heartfelt tribute to Queen Elizabeth II during a lunch reception at Buckingham Palace on Saturday. Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-serving monarch, breathed her last on September 8. She was 96.
Kate Middleton, who has been in mourning since the passing away of the Queen, has been wearing only black outfits as per the Royal Family’s tradition. She joined Prince William, King Charles III and Queen consort Camilla for a lunch reception at Buckingham Palace.
With her jewellery choice for the engagement, she paid a subtle tribute to the late monarch.
Kate wore a three-strand pearl necklace that belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. The necklace was the late monarch’s go-to accessory. The Princess of Wales also accessorised her black attire with a pair of pearl and diamond earrings. The pair also previously belonged to the Queen. It was the fourth time Kate was spotted wearing these earrings since the monarch’s death.
Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral is set to take place today, September 19, at Westminster Abbey, London. Several dignitaries and officials from around the world will also mark their presence. President Droupadi Murmu arrived in London on Saturday to attend the state funeral.
