Kashmiri artist made an old map of Srinagar using paper mache technique and watercolours. He made this painting to draw people's attention to how humans have destroyed nature and the beauty of the Kashmir Valley.

Massive construction work and urbanisation around Srinagar has left the water bodies severely polluted. While some water bodies have almost disappeared over the years, some lakes in Kashmir have shrunken to a fraction of their original size due to encroachment in and around the area. Maqbool Jan, resident of Srinagar’s Lal Bazar area has made an old map of the city on cloth using the paper mache technique and water colours.
