Karti Chidambaram moved Delhi High Court on Saturday seeking anticipatory bail in a money laundering case.
Congress MP Karti Chidambaram moved Delhi High Court on Saturday seeking anticipatory bail in a money laundering case in connection with the bribe-for-visa scam.
His previous plea was denied by a special court in Delhi a day earlier.
Karti Chidambaram has been accused of taking a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from a Punjab-based firm through his associate in order to facilitate the visas of 263 Chinese nationals. His father, P. Chidambaram, was the Union Home Minister when the alleged crime took place.
However, he has maintained that his father is the actual target of the central agencies.
The Congress MP said, "They want to target my father who is the principal critic of the government and, as they are unable to counter his arguments, they are coming after me."
