Equipped with all the latest facilities, like sanitary pad vending machine and a baby diaper changing station, here's all you need to know about the first model public toilet in Delhi's Karol Bagh.
The Karol Bagh Zone of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) inaugurated the first model public toilet in Cycle Market, Jhandewalan area. Built in collaboration with Shri Ram Institute of Rural Development, the toilet is the first of its kind equipped with all the latest facilities, like a sanitary pad vending machine and baby diaper changing station.
It is constructed on the Build, Operate and Transfer model, and 19 such model toilets are being constructed in Karol Bagh, which will be completed by September 2022.
Deputy Commissioner Shashanka Ala said, "It has a 10-seat toilet for transgender, women and men, equipped with the latest facilities, like sanitary pad vending machine and baby diaper changing station.
There is also a soap dispenser, hand dryer, dustbins, proper ventilation, 24x7 electricity and water facility in this model toilet.
The bidder will construct and operate the toilet for 7 years and will try to recover the cost through advertisement. MCD did not incur any expenditure in this project, Shashanka Ala said
Ala said that earlier the toilet block at this place was in a very poor and dilapidated condition. With the efforts of MCD and Shri Ram Institute of Rural Development, a model toilet with all the latest and modern facilities is dedicated to the public in Jhandewalan Area, she added.
