After minister BC Patil called the Dingaleshwar seer ‘a chameleon’, the Congress party in Karnataka slammed the minister by saying, “BC Patil is shameless. He is trying to divert attention.” They said that making a statement against the seer was unacceptable.
The Congress party in Karnataka has slammed minister BC Patil for his statements against the Dingaleshwar seer. The minister had said that the seer, “is like a chameleon, changing colours to suit the situation.”
Reacting to this statement, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president, Saleem Ahmed, said, “BC Patil is shameless. He is trying to divert attention. The swamiji is not a member of any political party. Making a statement against the swamiji is not acceptable.”
Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, issued a statement regarding the allegations laid down by the seer that the government was demanding a 30% commission as a ‘cut’ for giving grants to mutts.
In his statement, the CM said, “Dingaleshwara Swamiji is a revered seer, a Mahatma, it is not enough if the head of a Mutt just issues a statement. If he could provide details as to who demanded the commission, to whom it was paid, how much was paid and all the related details, then I will ensure a thorough investigation.”
Responding to the demands for proof by the CM, the seer questioned as to how there could be documents for corruption.
“Yeh andar ki baat hai. Sab ko pata hai corruption hai. [This is an internal matter. Everyone knows there is corruption],” said Dingaleshwar seer.
Before the controversy surrounding contractors' allegations of corruption could be put to bed, the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government in Karnataka, on Monday, was hit with new allegations of corruption over distributing grants to mutts.
