Karnataka BJP MLA Renukacharya has urged the party to give opportunities to fresh faces in the cabinet.
Karnataka BJP MLA Renukacharya has urged the party to give an opportunity to fresh faces amid talks of cabinet expansion. He said that many state leaders keep getting opportunities, while others are overlooked.
The political secretary to Chief Minister Bommai has also expressed dismay over the party's decision not to give opportunities to new faces during previous cabinet rejigs.
Renukacharya said, "It is their decision and not my personal choice. I've met all our MLAs together and I've personally asked them to give me an opportunity as I've served as a three-time legislator. I've asked them frankly, I have worked as an MLA in the past. I've experience, talent and I work in a manner that brings credit to both the organisation and the government. They should give priority to new faces because they are young."

"Now, if you see, many people are getting chances repeatedly. In 2004, 2008 and 2018 they were there. Shouldn't others also get priority in the party? Only they are competitive? Why don't they provide an opportunity? They should and I've discussed this with our leaders like Yediyurappa, CM Bommai and even BL Santosh," he added.
There are currently 29 ministers in the state cabinet, including the chief minister, as against the sanctioned strength of 34.
