Karnataka Police arrested a former staff in the animal husbandry department for conning 12 job aspirants and taking Rs 25 lakh from them by promising them jobs. He also produced fake appointment letters with forged signatures of the minister and senior staff.
A 43-year-old man, who formerly worked in the animal husbandry department, was arrested in Belagavi for conning 12 people and taking Rs 25 lakh from them under the guise of providing them with jobs.
The initial investigation revealed that the accused, Jnanadev Jhadhav, was a staff member of the animal husbandry minister Prabhu Chahuhan in 2020 and 2021. He reportedly quit his job for personal reasons and settled in Belagavi.
According to a report by the Times of India, the accused had taken Rs 25 lakh from 12 men in Belagavi and nearby areas. He had promised to provide them with jobs as first and second division assistants in the animal husbandry department.
He had also produced 63 fake appointment letters in the name of the department.
The scam was discovered when N Ramesh, the joint commissioner of the animal husbandry department, filed a complaint. The complaint stated that unidentified miscreants had produced fake appointment letters with forged signatures of the minister and other senior staff.
The complaint further stated that such fake letters had even reached the office of CM Bommai.
According to a police source, “To win the confidence of his victims, Jhadhav forged documents like notifications, which announced there are 93 FDA and SDA vacant posts. Also, he created fake appointment letters in the names of these 63 persons and handed 12 to persons from whom he had taken the money.”
