Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra issued a statement on the ongoing Hijab row in the state. He stated that a common uniform helps children forget their differences and unite as Indians.
After incidents of girl students wearing hijabs and others wearing saffron shawls in retaliation, the Karnataka Home minister Araga Jnanendra said that the uniform of a school is a thing that should be followed.
“Also, it helps the children to forget the differences and unite as Indians,” he added.
He further said, “to follow our religions, we have our worshipping places and all these can be done there. I have informed the police force to investigate the communal forces who are behind this incident.”
The home minister said, “It is not about restricting students from wearing a hijab, even saffron cloth shouldn't be worn. Students should follow the rules set by the school.”
Minister of Social Welfare Department and Backward Classes Welfare Department, Kota Shrinivas Poojari, also issued statements regarding the ongoing Hijab controversy rocking Karnataka.
He said, “I don't know why they are trying to create indifference in the name of the Hijab. There are a set of rules which are framed by the government for the education system and it's a duty to follow that. Creating a ruckus/ nuisance in society is not a good sign.”
He added that the Karnataka government had made its stand on the issue clear. The government has stated that government schools have a set of rules to follow and it's a duty to follow that.
