Karnataka govt makes it mandatory for private hospitals to have own oxygen plants
India Today
The state health department has directed all private medical establishments to install oxygen plants in their premises within four months to avert any future oxygen crisis.
After the massive oxygen supply problems faced by hospitals in Karnataka, the Health Department has issued a circular making in compulsory for hospitals and nursing homes to install their own Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) oxygen plants or refilling plants and other required infrastructure to meet their oxygen requirements. According to the circular, at hospitals with more than 100 beds, the infrastructure should have sufficient capacity to produce at least two times their normal requirement of oxygen. For hospitals that have 50 to 99 beds, the infrastructure should be sufficient to meet at least their normal requirement. But hospitals or nursing homes with fewer than 50 beds must augment their infrastructure and add capacities. ALSO READ | What is happy hypoxia and why you should take it seriouslyMore Related News
