Karnataka Congress MLAs, on Friday, February 19, continued their protest demanding the dismissal of minister KS Eshwarappa over his statement on the national flag. The protesting MLAs staged an overnight agitation by spending the whole of Thursday night inside the Assembly.
The Congress MLAs who spent the whole of Thursday night inside the Karnataka Assembly, continued their protest on Friday, February 18. They are demanding the dismissal of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister KS Eshwarappa over his statement regarding the national flag.
They also demanded that he be booked for sedition regarding his statement about the national flag.
The 'overnight agitation' by the Congress came even as protests by the party legislators rocked proceedings in both houses for the second consecutive day on Thursday.
Renewing the attack on Friday, Congress state president DK Shivakumar said there was no question of giving up the agitation till Eshwarappa was dismissed.
"Our agitation will continue. We do not want the resignation of the 'foul-mouthed' Eshwarappa. We want the Governor and the Chief Minister to dismiss him," Shivakumar told reporters.
Congress MLA MB Patil also issued a statement saying, “Till Eshwarappa resigns, we will continue to protest. This isn't the first time we slept in the Assembly. For the BJP, the flag isn't important. We will take it to the people and till Eshwarappa resigns we will protest."
Reacting to the demand, Eshwarappa said, "Let them stay inside the assembly and legislative council forever."
