Karnataka Congress leader CM Ibrahim resigned from the party and his MLC post on Saturday. He is likely to join the Janata Dal (S) next week.
CM Ibrahim, senior Congress leader and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Karnataka, resigned from the party and his post as MLC on Saturday. He tendered his resignation via a letter addressed to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
He is now likely to join Janata Dal (Secular), according to sources. He may join the party by next week; the negotiations were done about three weeks ago.

In his resignation letter, CM Ibrahim said he was disappointed that he was not made the leader of the Opposition in the legilative council.
"A junior, BK Hariprasad, was made the leader when majority of the MLCs supported me," he stated.
