A protest was staged in Puducherry against the Karnataka government and an effigy of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was burnt. The protest was staged by a group called the Puducherry Cauvery Protection Committee against the Karnataka government for trying to build the Mekedatu dam. The group had demanded that Centre should announce that the dam shall not be constructed over the river.
