Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday ordered a probe into death threat calls to Opposition leader Siddaramaiah.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday said he ordered a probe into the death threat calls to Congress MLA and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah. He added that he met with the Congress leader and assured him of adequate security and a thorough probe.
This comes after Siddaramaiah raised concerns over his safety after eggs were hurled at his car and black flags were waved during his visit to Kodagu.
CM Bommai said the state government takes the matter very seriously and promised Siddaramaiah a thorough enquiry in this regard. He told the media that he asked Siddaramaiah to give the details of the threat calls and that he will get them thoroughly investigated.

He added that he also talked to the Director General of Police about law and order. "No one should take law into their hands on this matter. It is happening from both sides. No one should make statements that incite others and take law into their hands. I have asked the DGP to give instructions to all SPs (Superintendent of Police) in this regard, and to give adequate security or additional security to the Leader of Opposition in the backdrop of the recent developments," said Bommai.
Earlier, while speaking at an event, Siddaramaiah said, "These people killed Gandhi, will they spare me? Godse had shot at Gandhi, but they worship his photo."
