Karl-Anthony Towns roasted for wearing Eagles gear at Knicks’ game vs. 76ers: ‘Should get fined’
NY Post
Karl-Anthony Towns might have made some sour New York sports fans a little angry on Wednesday night.
The Knicks superstar rocked a green Eagles sweater with a retro logo while sitting on the bench during New York’s contest against the rival 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.
Towns, an Edison, N.J., native, has made it clear in the past that he had no problem supporting the Eagles, no matter what team in the NBA he’s playing for.
While with the Timberwolves in 2018, he posted on social media his support for the Eagles — who had beaten the Vikings in the NFC title game en route to their first-ever Super Bowl win.
Towns, a self-proclaimed “born and bred” Eagles fan, was called out for his words but told reporters that he didn’t mind the criticism and that he preferred to stay true to himself.
That, truth, is being an Eagles fan.
We might as well start talking about this now. As early as next Tuesday, it’s at least possible that Carlos Beltran will earn the 75 percent of the vote necessary to gain entrance to the Hall of Fame. And when that happens — if not now, then some year soon — it’s going to be a most interesting thing to watch how Mets fans react.
