Another accused has surrendered before police in the Kanpur violence case. Read on to find out about the developments so far.
One of the 40 rioters identified by the Kanpur Police has surrendered at the Colonelganj police station. The accused is a minor and his elder brother and brother-in-law, who were also involved in the violent clashes and stone-pelting that took place in the city on Friday, were arrested yesterday.
The accused was seen hurling stones in CCTV footage, police said.
Violent clashes and stone-pelting were witnessed in Kanpur on Friday (June 3) after a Muslim organisation had called to shut down shops at the Parade Market, one of the biggest wholesale markets in the city, over BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s controversial comments about the Prophet Mohammed during a TV debate.
